30) (flat: calvary cross) Alexander MATTHEW MA FRCSE died 17th April 1905 a physician well beloved. Jane Anne Stark LEYTON, his wife died 6 July 1936 aged 86. Alice Margaret, their daughter 1881 – 1958. Dr E. Layton Matthew their son 1884 – 1963. Mary USHER, his wife 1888 – 1958.

Old Parish Church elder 1898 – 1905. Three two-light windows on the north wall of the nave are a tribute to Dr Matthew, a highly respected village Doctor.

31) (flat: cross) Reverend Donald MacLEOD. DD, VD. First minister of St Columba’s, London. Born 1839 – Died1911. Erected by his widow.

Donald Macleod aged 14 travelled from his father’s manse at Lagan with a sack of meal to feed him when he entered Aberdeen University. His first call was Dornoch 1863 and thereafter by Dumfries, Montrose, Dundee and Jedburgh he came to London 1881. Dr Macleod was first Chaplain of the London Scottish Regiment for which he got the Volunteer Decoration. His second wife, Miss Potter, attended St. Columba’s. When she was widowed she married the Rev James Fergusson of Corstorphine Parish Church. Dr. Macleod’s daughter, Clara, wrote the story of her family in “Memoirs of Children of the Manse”, 1961. 

32) (flat: cross) In loving memory of Rev. James FERGUSSON T.D. Minister of Corstorphine, Clerk to the Presbytery of Edinburgh. Died in London 11th September 1926 aged 59 after serving in this parish 31 years. Caroline Manuel POTTER, widow of Rev, Donald MacLEOD D.D. and of the above James Fergusson born 5th January 1866, died 8th January 1960.

33) (flat: cross crosslet) In ever loving memory of Harriot Jane SPENCE devoted wife of Sir James Inglis DAVIDSON, Saughton Mains. + Died 4th February 1929. He giveth his beloved sleep. PS. CXXVII. 2. + Also of the above Sir James Inglis DAVIDSON, died 19th October 1934 and of his son George Spence DAVIDSON, died 25th  January 1960 beloved husband of Nathalie Jane SALVESEN died 21st January 1977.

35) (flat: cross) Robert Tuite BOOTHBY K.B.E. of Beechwood 29th June 1871 – 7th February 1941. Mabel LANCASTER, his wife 24th August 1867 – 9th September 1948. In death they were not divided.
