David, born 2nd April 1835, died14th January 1864. And of his wife Caroline COOKE, born 5th April 1805, died 7 May 1875. And the Reverend Robert Keith Dick HORNE, 18 years minister of the parish. 141) Sacred to the memory of the Reverend David SCOT, M.D. a man beloved for his many virtues, and eminent for talent, piety and learning who was ordained minister of this parish 17th November 1814 and continued in that charge until 30th June 1833, when he resigned in consequence of having been appointed Professor of Oriental languages in the University of St. Andrews and who died at Edinburgh 17th September 1834 in the 64th year of his age and was here interred. This stone is erected by his widow.

James Lind master baker and Catherine Fotheringham, 11 King’s Place, Leith married in Corstorphine parish church 23 February 1857. Mr Lind’s flour room was the little schoolhouse on the east of St. Ninian’s church, the site now being covered with shops.

On the Somme 15 September 1916 a new secret weapon, code name ‘Tank’, went into operation. The Canadians 6 November 1917 captured Passchendaele and by the 30th the U.S ‘Rainbow Division’ under Douglas MacArthur arrived in France.

In the church accounts there is an entry 18 September 1833 for assistance – a Guinea – to William Sheldon when in distress and carrying him to Ireland. At that period the support of the poor was done by the church not the Government as it is today.

John Pattillo born at Huntly innkeeper at the Oak Inn and William the rural postman. The Oak Inn was where passengers got the Corstorphine to Coltbridge horse bus service in the late 19th century.
